The Road to Emmaus reminds us that we rarely encounter the Divine in isolation. Spiritual direction is the practice of walking together—a sacred partnership where a director joins you on your current path to help you recognize the "burning heart" moments where God is speaking, even when He feels like a stranger.
It is not a destination to be reached, but a way of traveling with greater awareness, intention, and companionship.
At its heart, spiritual direction is the ancient practice of sacred listening. It is a prayerful relationship established by the Christian church centuries ago, where a trained director walks alongside you to help you notice, savor, and respond to the presence of the Divine in all of life’s circumstances.

Sacred Listening
On the road, the disciples didn't immediately recognize Jesus. Spiritual direction creates the stillness needed to identify the "hidden" presence of God in your joys, your griefs, and your transitions. Unlike counseling or therapy, the goal is not to "fix" problems. Instead, a director sits with you as a fellow traveler, helping you to focus on your relationship with Christ.

Just as the disciples’ eyes were opened in the breaking of the bread, spiritual direction provides a "table" for the soul; a place of nourishment and rest where your spiritual life is prioritized and protected.
